Tamambo

As I was leaving the school that had been my home for the past 3,5 years, my dear colleagues got together and gave me a wonderfully creative farewell present: a beautiful hand-made card with everyone's names on it, some lovely tulips, a selfie-stick (!) and a GIFT CARD for a restaurant in Nairobi! I mean, who thinks of something like that? It was AWESOME.

Guess who else is awesome? My room mates Maitre, Carol and Dorothea. They have been staying here from September/October and they have been very welcoming and nice. We've had many long discussion of comparing our cultures and customs relating to family life, dating, marriage, work, food, education systems, studies, female leadership etc. I've been thinking that if four ladies, ages 23-33, constituting of an Atheist (Finnish), a Hindi (Indian), a Catholic (Uganda) and a protestant (Germany), with pretty different backgrounds are able to get along well, world peace is possible.
Unfortunately Carol The Ugandan didn't get a continuation on her 6-month contract and she is leaving at the end of the month. I thought it would be fitting to use the gift card given to me as a farewell present, for a nice farewell dinner for Carol, so that's what we did yesterday.

Carol and I.

Dorothea The German and Carol.

Carol and Maitre.

The restaurant Tamambo was the nicest I've been to here (you can check the website here). It's located in Karen, which is a posh area of the city with residents like the vice-president of Kenya (and my boss, ha ha).

Here's what we had:

To start with, I had a cocktail called Saints and Sinners.

I had the best meal here so far: tender beef with baked potato.

For dessert I had something called True Passion - a mango-passion cake with white chocolate. The plate had my name on it and the text: "Imagination is the highest kite you can fly".

Dorothea had snapper with prawns and both Carol and Maitre had vegetarian dishes, and everybody was very happy with their meals. Thanks to the gift card the total bill for our table, including drinks, was around 17 €! The service was friendly and good, so afterwards we were content and full.

Now a few words as a thank you to my ex-colleagues in Swedish:
